Combine Historic Castles with Great Golf

Scotland's turbulent history has left a lasting mark on the landscape in the shape of  many castles and fortresses that pepper the countryside.

From magnificent city landmarks to mysterious ruins, Scotland is renowned for its iconic castles. Whether you are looking to explore the largest in the country or discover the home of your ancestors there is always plenty of history to uncover as each castle has a fascinating tale to tell.

The good news is that many of our most famous castles are never far away from a great golf course!!!

Why not visit the spectacular Dunnottar Castle which is perched on a cliff-top near Royal Aberdeen.

Play a round at Gullane before visiting Edinburgh Castle, which overlooks the city from an extinct volcano. There you can see the nation's crown jewels and admire some of the oldest Renaissance decorations in Britain in The Great Hall.

Enjoy a day playing the PGA Centenary course at Gleneagles before visiting Stirling Castle where you can step back to the time of James V and see the recently refurbished Royal Palace and experience a world of lavish colour with rich and elaborate decor.

Experience the beauty of Eilean Donan Castle home to Clan Macrae or majesty of Inverary Castle home of the Campbells, then enjoy the wild and rugged scenery as you drive the play the dunes of Machrihanish.   ,

Many of Scotland's castles still belong to the clans, including Dunvegan Castle on the Isle of Skye. Dunvegan has been home of the chiefs of Clan MacLeod for 800 years and is the oldest continuously inhabited castle in Scotland.
